Overview:


What would you put inside a silly pie? During this workshop, children will use rhyming, melody, and playful lyrics to help them write a silly song about a silly pie. By using music, children will improve their understanding of phonics and rhyming while having fun with language. They will work together to write, sing, and perform, bringing their unique ideas to life through music and poetry.

Suitable for: EYFS and KS1 children
Duration: 45 minutes

Workshop Objectives:

​

  1. Foster Creativity: Encourage children to express their imaginations through songwriting and poetry.

  2. Develop Language Skills: Enhance vocabulary and understanding of rhyme and rhythm.

  3. Gain a Greater Understanding of:

    • Phonics: Reinforce phonetic skills through engaging musical activities, including sounding out words.

    • Rhyming: Understand how rhymes work and improve their ability to create them.

  4. Promote Collaboration: Enable teamwork as students work together to create their songs.

  5. Encourage Performance: Build confidence in presenting their work through singing and acting.

 

Materials Needed for Kids:

  • Fun worksheets: For brainstorming ideas, structuring lyrics, exploring rhymes, and sounding out words.

  • Pencils and Colored Pencils: For writing and creating their own designs related to the silly pie theme.
